Information about Melissa
Hello!
My name is Mel and I specialise in English Language and Literature tuition for Year 10-13 students who are studying GCSEs, A-Levels, International Baccalaureate or Oxbridge entrance. I also offer Maths GCSE tuition and practice. Additionally, I am able to offer study skills and organisation/preparation sessions which have been found useful when learning has been so disrupted in the past year.
I am an empathetic and kind tutor who believes that talking through the interesting problems, approaching the problem from different angles and putting your own spin on things can provide the way to unlock a subject. I tutor by offering tailored guidance on how to easily work on improvement areas in the run-up to exams and how to build strengths in key areas.
Unfortunately, I don`t tutor 11+ or KS3 anymore but please do contact me if you are in Year 9 and looking for GCSE acceleration.
Availability: In-person or Zoom availability for Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 students only.
Available in the evenings after 6.30pm and on Saturdays/Sundays.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Recent University of Oxford graduate - BA English Language and Literature.
Previously studied the International Baccalaureate and GCSEs at Newstead Wood School, Orpington where I was also Head Student.
My recent students have attained entrance to Oxford University and Exeter University. I have also tutored students from E to A* grades.

Mel has been helping our daughter through her GCSE maths, she has been fantastic, always reliable and punctual. Our daughter responds really well to Mel, which is why our daughter has been doing really well and has gained so much confidence. I would definitely recommend Mel for future students!

My daughter needed help preparing for her A level Spanish. She was only able to have a few sessions with Melissa and we found Melissa helpful, supportive and encouraging. We told her what we needed and she responded accordingly. Melissa was prompt, efficient and friendly. We would definitely recommend her.

I can highly recommend Melissa as a tutor. She helped my daughter with her A-level English. She was always well prepared for the session, arrived on time. I only wish should could have carried on, however she had to go back to the university to continue her degree.

Melissa is a lovely young lady. My son was tutored by her for the last 8 months for help with his GCSE Maths. In his mocks and assessments, he went from an F to a B and sometimes an A!! She has definitely helped unlock his potential and help him see maths in a different light! I would recommend Melissa 100%.
