I have 30 years secondary teaching experience in independent and state schools.I have a tried and tested track record of excellent results at GCSE and A Level over many years. My teaching is rooted in the belief that developing reading and writing skills should be inspiring and challenging.I believe that everyone has a unique and personal relationship to language and my approach supports specific individual needs.
I have been married for 31 years and I have two adult sons. I have traveled widely, worked in several sectors and went to Drama school in London after completing a BA (Hons) in Peace Studies at Bradford University. I am interested in the Arts and like to read, write and paint. I also like gardening and walking.
Availability: I can be flexible but in principle am available from 9.00-21.00hrs Mon-Fri. Depending on the circumstances, I can also work at agreed times in the evening or at weekends.

Experience: I have a BA in Peace Studies/ PGCE English/Drama/Media Studies/ Professional Acting Diploma (Webber Douglas Academy). I have 30 years experience teaching in secondary schools. I have taught English, Drama and History in State Comprehensive and Independent schools in England and Canada.I have been Head of Department (Drama) in 3 schools. I have an extensive record of excellent results (mainly A*-B/9-6) at GCSE and A Level over many years. I have taught many different exam board syllabuses. I have also done some private tutoring previously.
I can tutor English Literature A Level and GCSE; English Language GCSE/ History GCSE (some exam boards)/Drama and Theatre Studies A Level and GCSE./KS3 English

Excellent tutor. Timothy is supporting my son with his GCSE prep (year 11). He really does care and I can see a huge improvement in my son’s work and attitude towards English. My son has been working with Timothy for the past three weeks and has been really happy with the tuition. Timothy is patient, encouraging and explains things clearly in a way that really suits my son. He’s already feeling more confident and engaged and we’ve been very pleased with how well the sessions are going. We will be continuing to have Timothy tutor him up until his GCSEs and would happily recommend him to other students.

Excellent teaching style which my daughter found very helpful and was fully engaged. Due to financial constraints we had to cut lessons short as we had to pay for tuition for subjects that my daughter was struggling in more than English. Hopefully will definitely like to resume when circumstances improve.
