I have 30 years secondary teaching experience in independent and state schools.I have a tried and tested track record of excellent results at GCSE and A Level over many years. My teaching is rooted in the belief that developing reading and writing skills should be inspiring and challenging.I believe that everyone has a unique and personal relationship to language and my approach supports specific individual needs.
I have been married for 31 years and I have two adult sons. I have traveled widely, worked in several sectors and went to Drama school in London after completing a BA (Hons) in Peace Studies at Bradford University. I am interested in the Arts and like to read, write and paint. I also like gardening and walking.
Availability: I can be flexible but in principle am available from 9.00-21.00hrs Mon-Fri. Depending on the circumstances, I can also work at agreed times in the evening or at weekends.

Experience: I have a BA in Peace Studies/ PGCE English/Drama/Media Studies/ Professional Acting Diploma (Webber Douglas Academy). I have 30 years experience teaching in secondary schools. I have taught English, Drama and History in State Comprehensive and Independent schools in England and Canada.I have been Head of Department (Drama) in 3 schools. I have an extensive record of excellent results (mainly A*-B/9-6) at GCSE and A Level over many years. I have taught many different exam board syllabuses. I have also done some private tutoring previously.
I can tutor English Literature A Level and GCSE; English Language GCSE/ History GCSE (some exam boards)/Drama and Theatre Studies A Level and GCSE./KS3 English

Timothy was an excellent tutor from the start for my son. He was organised and planned the lessons well. He was able to encourage my son to do the homework for the lessons and my son`s engagement and level of work improved week by week. After under 6 months of tutoring my son`s English Literature results improved from a grade 3 to 7. My son started to really enjoy the subject and was even considering taking English Lit for A level.
