Information about Alan

Qualified to doctoral level, I was a biomedical scientist and Head of Medical Laboratory Services at two reference hospitals before becoming a teacher (post-16 sciences) and private tutor around 20 years ago. I have also served as a regional manager, consultant/technical adviser, staff and volunteers trainer for international development charities.

I also hold a law degree, have completed further postgraduate paralegal courses in civil and criminal law and provide support as a volunteer paralegal for case preparations and submissions.

I hold a DBS enhanced police disclosure, renewed annually.





Availability: Available online (Zoom, Whatsapp, Skype or Teams) or student address according to location.

Experience: A fully-qualified PGCE tutor, I have taught Biology, Biochemistry, Access Nursing/Sciences and Health Studies at GCSE, A Level, BTEC or equivalent at three FE colleges and at university (BSc course) as a guest lecturer.

I have been a private tutor since 2004, now covering A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Environmental Sciences plus GCSE Maths/Further Maths/Statistics and Sciences across exam boards.

Also holding the Law degree, taking higher law qualifications and working alongside lawyers in criminal, civil negligence and public law, I teach A Level/BTEC Law and Business Studies modules introducing Law.

I have assisted numerous students to gain places at university medical schools and on other highly competitive courses. I also support adult and independent students and can cover any specific vocational/basic Maths as required for the workplace.

My tuition fee includes back-up with emailed resources and session notes, assistance with revision planning and exam techniques, and communication between sessions.

Alan has quickly assessed my child`s needs and developed a good rapport with him. They work well together and my son is feeling more confident after just a couple of lessons in preparation for his exams. Alan is always punctual and conveniently tutors at the students home. I would recommend him.
