Experience: Whilst at school, I was appointed as a Reading Mentor where I helped younger children with their reading over a 3-month period.
Studying a degree in Biochemistry has honed my scientific and analytical skills, ability to synthesise large amounts of information and I have become extremely detail-oriented. I loved my degree as science and mathematics are my passion and I feel I am in a great position to tutor students in these subjects.
My experience as a Biochemistry Scientific and Numeracy Peer Mentor in my third year at university gave me a real understanding of teaching and enhanced my communication skills. This role was a great opportunity to work closely with a group of first-year Biochemistry students to help and support them with work-related problems, such as difficulties with laboratory calculations and course content, as well as pastoral issues such as settling into university. I would also work with students on a one-to-one basis to support their needs.
