Information about Andrew

I am looking to tutor Physics and Maths (A-level, GCSE). I am also able to teach computer programming (MATLAB, Python) at all levels from children to university students.

I currently work as both a private and volunteer tutor teaching Physics (A-level) and Maths (A-level, GCSE). I`m also at the very end of my PhD in Electrical Engineering with Loughborough University, and graduated with an MPhys (Hons) in Physics with Theoretical Physics from the University of Manchester. I`ve also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. My research is in computational physics and engineering, which I combine with a keen interest in computer programming. All this academic experience provides me with deep knowledge and a strong ability to break down complex topics.

I`ve also developed skills in mentoring, coaching, and leadership through a variety of activities over the years: I`ve mentored and supported younger PhD students, been a volunteer teacher at a Code Club for primary school children, and coached basketball for mens and kids teams (whilst holding a basketball coaching qualification), to name a few. Through these experiences I`ve learned to prioritise effective communication, as well as the importance of developing confidence in students.

As a tutor I like to use all of my experiences to inform my tutoring approach, and have learned through my various teaching roles that inter-personal skills are just as important as the technical knowledge, sometimes even more so.

In my free time I currently enjoy playing basketball, running, and cooking. One fun fact about me is that I played in the under-10 national junior chess championships, although that was my peak and I only play for fun now!
