I am a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher. I post graduate from University in 2005 with an MSc degree in mathematics.

Being an teacher has been a hugely valuable experience as it has highlighted common misconceptions and errors made by children in their tests. I apply this knowledge within my teaching and help equip pupils with sound exam technique.

I am friendly, patient and approachable and I aim to build a positive relationship with each pupil I teach. I empathise with the struggles often associated with learning and my teaching style lends itself to creating a supportive and enjoyable environment which challenges pupils to reach their full potential.

Experience: I work as Head of Maths. My experience in the classroom has enabled me to make work purposeful, build positive relationships with children and act upon their interests. Furthermore, I believe being: empathetic, consistent and fair. These are integral to being able to manage a safe and caring learning environment.

Working with all Years, key stage 3 and 4 throughout my teaching placements has enabled me to have a practical understanding of effective teaching strategies. Using concrete physical manipulatives for this age range is a really beneficial aid to clarify their understanding and visualisation of new concepts. Therefore, my experience has taught me that learning can be constructed through children being active participates.
