Afiya

My name is Afiya and I’m a motivated and energetic tutor from London. I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology. I currently work in the field of psychology and as a result, I am confident and competent in building positive working relationships with young people to support them in reaching their full potential.

My approach to tutoring entails tailoring personalised plans to each student’s individual needs, this includes creating revision notes, queue cards and mini tests to prepare students for school and exams. I aim to reduce students stress and increase their confidence and grades.

Availability: I am available on weekday evenings and weekends

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: I have extensive experience of working autonomously with young people. I currently am tutoring students in both primary and secondary schools in North London preparing for upcoming exams. I have experience working in schools around North London as a Cover Supervisor and Special Educational Needs assistant providing one to one support. I have also worked as an Assistant Psychologist with young people and therefore I am able to build good rapport and promote confidence in students learning.

I am patient and I specialise in providing support to students who may be struggling to manage with their school work and keeping up with their peers, and those preparing for SATs and GCSE’s.


English and Maths:
I have studied English at GCSE level and Maths at GCSE, A Level and Statistics within my both of my degrees.

Psychology:
I am up to date with changes in the A Level Psychology curriculum.
I have an in depth understanding of APA guidelines and I can confidently use SPSS and AMOS for data entry and data analysis. I have experience of proofreading essays and reports and providing detailed feedback relating to the structure and critical analysis.
