My name is Mike and I have recently arrived in Edinburgh, I am passionate about teaching & tutoring and have over 22 years working in education from working in 12 countries (Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Germany, The UK, Vietnam, the USA, Ghana, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, the Netherlands and the UK).

I have worked a a teacher, teacher trainer, examiner and most recently a Senior Manager at a Russell Group university in London. I have a lot of experience in providing language and communication skills development and design classes which are specific to your needs & interests.

Availability: I am available Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00 within Edinburgh but can discuss travelling further a field on an individual basis.

Experience: I have worked for 5 Russell Group universities at varying levels, tutor to Senior Manager with students from the UK and overseas. i can provide guidance on the UCAS application process and support you in writing an effective personal statement. I also designed Academic Skills support programmes for Home and International students to develop the core skills necessary to achieve academic success in writing and presenting.

As an examiner, I worked as an IELTS and Cambridge English Examiner (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC) for over 10 years and examined in excess of 3000 candidates so can guide you through these examinations.

As a taecher, I have taught General English to international students and tailor-made communication skills training for professionals in the Finance, Telecommunications, Policing, Marketing, Pharmaceutical, Diplomacy and Internet sectors- I am happy to teach in-company if requested.

As a teacher trainer, I have trained over 500 teachers on initial qualifications TKT, CELTA and in-service teachers on ICELT and DELTA Module 2 in the UK and overseas- if you are preparing to take any of these Cambridge English qualifications and need support in language analysis, discourse, phonology, morphology or applying theory to practice then happy to help.
