Information about Ross

Ross is a friendly, supportive and encouraging tutor who has worked with a range of students of different backgrounds and abilities and knows how to help them achieve their very best.

From Scotland, Ross graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2010 at the top of his class, with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology. He then made the move to London to undertake his MRes (Pass with Distinction) and PhD at `s College London. He continued his postdoctoral research training at the William Harvey Research Institute (Queen Mary University of London) before starting his current role as a scientific advisor at a major UK health charity.

Throughout his doctoral and postdoctoral training, Ross was consistently committed to the teaching and training of the next generation of biomedical scientists. He has lectured, run problem-based tutorials, taught laboratory practicals and evaluated student assessments at all university levels. He has also trained several junior scientists in the laboratory and helped them gain confidence in their own ability and constantly encouraged them to expand their scientific knowledge and understanding. Ross has also been a judge for Google Science Fair since 2011.

Ross is now loo to help bright young minds achieve their potential in the biomedical sciences. He is keen to tailor his tutoring to the individual student, understanding areas of difficulty and wor with them through problem-based and exam-focused learning in order to obtain the most efficient results.

Availability: Ross is available for lessons of one hour or more, from 5:30 pm. on weekdays. He is also available on weekends as required.

Experience: Ross` expert knowledge of the biomedical sciences, combined with his passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and mathematicians will be an invaluable resource to prospective tutees.

He is well-equipped in helping students of biology and related disciplines from GCSE level through to PhD. As part of this, Ross is also able to offer career/CV advice, help with UCAS applications and other general support.
