Information about Richard
I`m an experienced qualified teacher and highly experienced tutor with a PhD in Astrophysics.
I`ve taught across a wide range of levels, from private school entrance exams through KS3 and GCSE to A level and undergraduate courses. I love tutoring, because it allows me to really get to know a student and find the best way to help them. Over the last 5 years I`ve taught around 5,000 hours!

Experience: Having graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a BSc in Astrophysics I completed a PGCE in secondary science at the Institute of Education. I spent several years teaching in and around St. Helens in Merseyside, and tutoring privately, mostly for GCSE science and maths students and some A level physics, and I also helped to prepare a couple of students for private school entrance exams.
I then went on to do a PhD in Astrophysics at Liverpool John Moores University, during which time I helped to launch, and tutor on, their Astronomy by Distance Learning courses, as well as supporting undergraduate students in practical lab sessions. After gaining my doctorate I went to work in China at the Yunnan Astronomical Observatory in Kunming, Southern China. During my 5 years in China I successfully mentored a student through a research masters degree, as well as helping several other masters and PhD students with their studies.
Upon returning to the UK I went to work for an NVQ provider, where I taught maths to NVQ students, providing one-to-one tuition in their workplaces as well as holding small group tutorial sessions at a central office.
I have been a full-time, professional private tutor for the last five years, during which time I have taught around 5,000 hours.
