Information about Lily

Hello there! My name is Noor and I am a fourth-year dental student. I currently tutor GCSE Maths but I also teach KS3 and GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

I have two years of professional private tutoring experience and have helped multiple GCSE students achieve their aspirational grades. Before this, I was a teaching assistant at a local tuition centre.
After achieving A*AA at A-levels I felt I had acquired the knowledge to teach other aspiring students how to achieve similar grades. I typically run online one-hour lessons that involve teaching and interactive learning mostly, homework is also given to track progress and solidify topics. I teach OCR, Edexcel and AQA exam boards in all my subjects.

As well as teaching subjects I am also familiar with the medical/dental school application process so I can provide guidance in that area such as interview preparation.
Please message me for more information!

Experience: My teaching experience began in 2019 when I became a teaching assistant at a local tuition centre. My role involved supporting the main teacher while working with groups of children aged 5-16. It was here that I had the opportunity to build the skills required to be a successful teacher. As this is my first time teaching, I had to learn how to keep the students engaged and be able to communicate my knowledge in a way that they understood. This was quite challenging in the beginning; however, over time, my skills developed and teaching felt natural. There were times where I had to cover a teacher`s shift and continue the teaching as expected. This gave me the responsibility of lesson planning and leading small groups myself. In addition to teaching younger children, I also worked with GCSE math and science groups. Working with the older students was more demanding but stimulating, as I enjoyed simplifying complex concepts. As well as teaching, we were also expected to keep progress sheets of all our students to track their time at the tuition centre and be able to feedback to parents when necessary. Overall, this was a very rewarding role and I had built a good relationship with my students. I knew it was something I would pursue again in the future.

More recently, alongside my studies, I offer private one-to-one tuition for GCSE Maths and Science. I started this venture at the end of 2022 and I have helped a handful of students achieve their aspirational grades in the summer of this year. I typically run one-hour lessons over Zoom that include both teaching and interactive learning, homework is also given to track progress and solidify topics. I teach OCR, Edexcel and AQA exam boards in all my subjects. After years of being a student, I have accumulated the resources and knowledge necessary for GCSE and A-level students to succeed. Through active recall and past exam questions, I have been able to push my students to their full potential. One-to-one tutoring allows me to get to know my students better and tailor my teaching style to them, however I am confident I can deliver the same teaching in a group setting.

Away from teaching, I am currently a fourth year dental student studying at Queen Mary University of London. Applying to dental school was definitely one of the most difficult tasks I have completed; it required a huge amount of determination and resilience. As well as achieving the grades, I also had to build a stand-out personal statement and perform exceptionally at the interview stage. I can wholeheartedly relate to students who are now sitting GCSEs and A-levels post-COVID as I went through this same process myself. Through this experience, I have been able to show perseverance and unwavering motivation - this is something I aim to pass on to my students. My responsibility as their mentor is to demonstrate to them that they are capable of reaching any goals they set for themselves, no matter the setbacks, and that I will be there to support them on their journey.
