Information about Anand
I qualified with a Distinction in medicine MBBChir from Cambridge as well as 1st class BSc degree in Natural Sciences also from Cambridge. I completed my A levels with 4 A* and was a Bronze medallist in the 2010 International Chemistry Olympiad. Currently, I following academic career pathway and have undertaken a PhD in Oxford University in cancer research while working with Public Health England on the Covid.
I have experience teaching KS3, GCSE, A level and medical students and can adapt my style and content to the level of the learner. I use power points and as well as approved textbooks to provide teaching so that it`s in line with the lessons students receive in school. I can take students through each topic at their own pace allowing them ask me as many questions as they need to help them understand key concepts. I then follow this up with past paper questions and homework to reinforce their knowledge and use quizzes. I also try stimulate their interest in sciences by giving extra reading material and YouTube videos that would be relevant to their learning to help them develop wider understanding of the subject. This is especially useful for GCSE and A level students who may find this useful for making career decisions and writing personal statements.
Further I can help A level students with UCAS applications for science subjects, especially medicine as well as BMAT and UKCAT exams. I achieved scores of 2840/3600 in UKCAT and 28/33 in BMAT.
I teach in person and also online using and interactive whiteboard and screen sharing using powerpoints and past papers.
I am bilingual - fluent in English and Tamil
Availability: Year round. Weekdays and Weekends.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Have been teaching intermittently over the past 10 years (but have had cut down teaching school students in recent years due to workload). Have taught medical students in Cambridge and Oxford covering pathology. Have had some official teaching to teach training (which is a course aimed at doctors to help them teach medical students). I am currently teaching multiple A level, GCSE and university biosciences students and am up-to-date with most recent course specifications. My previous students have gone on to enrol in medical school, dental school, neuroscience and pre-medical courses in the USA. I have also successfully helped students last year with personal statements, BMAT and medical school interview preparation.
