Information about Abby

Hi, I`m Abby and I`m studying Maths and Psychology at Newcastle University, going into my second year. I`m also in a programme alongside my degree, training to be a Maths teacher. I thoroughly enjoy both my subjects and am hoping to pursue Educational Psychology longer down the line. I studied Maths, Further Maths and Psychology at A-level. I love Maths because I like the certainty of yes or no answers and I think it`s so clever how many different areas can link together. I love Psychology because I think humans are extremely complicated beings and the way our brains manage to control so many different functions while interpreting our environment is so fascinating. I believe in helping students become more confident in themselves and their methods to help them answer questions on their own with more certainty. Once we`ve identified what areas you wish to work on specifically, I will aim to help you answer questions on those topics, starting at the basics and working up to exam questions, with assurance. I hope we can work together to build your confidence in your abilities!

Availability: I`m available Monday mornings, Tuesday-Sunday during the day and Friday-Monday evenings.

Experience: I have had opportunities to tutor in the past, at school, and have always enjoyed them, taking on the role of Student Leader of Academic Mentoring in my second year of sixth form. To me, tutoring is very important in education as it provides a chance for one-to-one feedback and gives the students a chance to work on their skills in the most appropriate manner for them. Alongside tutoring during my school years, being in my teaching programme during Uni I have had the opportunity to work in a school and assist during lessons while teaching some aspects of them to the whole class.
