Information about Kim

I have been teaching at KS3, GCSE and A-level since 2002. I am passionate about English and learning. I believe that as a student of English you develop the most essential, influential and indispensable skills for me, there is nothing more rewarding than enabling and supporting the success of the young people I work with.

I am also an experienced examiner of GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature and moderator of A-Level English Literature. My in-depth understanding of these examinations has allowed me to successfully support my students and colleagues to achieve excellent results. I am proud of my track record of being consistently judged as an `outstanding` practitioner throughout my career.

I completed my teacher training at Birmingham University in 2003, and I was awarded a PGCE in History and English. Subsequently, I taught English, Maths and Humanities to KS3 students, before being promoted to the role of Assistant Area Leader for English. More recently, I have led the English department as a whole.

I believe that we are all learners. As such, I actively seek out opportunities to observe and collaborate with colleagues from the Primary sector as well as Secondary. I also ensure that I maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current research and teaching and learning methodology. This enables me to provide every student with the best tuition possible, suiting their individual needs.

Availability: I currently have availability to tutor students in my home tuition room on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and evenings. I am also able to offer on-line tuition at more flexible times, as well as some sessions duing the school day for students who are being home-schooled.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Throughout my 14 year career teaching English, I have successfully taught a range of students. I have a track record of success with all abilities and age groups. My experience includes the teaching of whole classes, small groups and one-to-one tuition.

I have also mentored Newly Qualified Teachers and those completing teacher training.

Kim is an excellent tutor who was of great assistance in helping my children in both GCSE and A Level. She was great at getting them fully prepared for both exams.

My daughter has only had a few sessions so far but I’m really impressed at how Kim has tailored the sessions to her as an individual. The sessions are very organised and well planned in advance to make use of the time. She is really enjoying them and the way in which they are taught.

Tutors Response :

Thanks for the feedback, Sam. I’m so pleased that she is finding the sessions helpful, and I am really enjoying our work together!
