Ofsted (Sept 2014) has said that my students make “exceptional progress”. With over 10 years teaching experience as a mainstream GCSE English teacher and head of a special needs centre, my students make especially strong gains in literacy and English, both at KS3 and GCSE level. I pride myself in having the technical skill to create ‘building blocks’ to explain complex mechanics and promote resilience, determination and independence. My highly skilled teaching ensures rapid progress for all the young people I teach.

I aim to assess student’s need through an initial consultation and discussion with parents/carers. A carefully designed programme to meet particular learning needs is then planned and delivered, with regular feedback on progress.



I provide tutoring for the following:

- Key Stage 3 English
- GCSE English
- Reading and spelling (decoding and encoding/ dyslexia)
- General reading skills, including: comprehension, inference and deduction
- Writing skills, including extended writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar
- General literacy skills

Availability: Monday-Thursday 6-8pm

Saturdays 9am-1pm

Times are negotiable during school holidays to fit around the student`s schedule.

Experience: - 11 years as a mainstream Key Stage 3 and GCSE English teacher
- 11 years as a special needs teacher (specific learning difficulties, MLD and speech and language, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties)
- 9 years as head of a special needs centre in a mainstream school
