Information about Nathan

Hello everybody,

In 2012 I graduated from my BA Hons degree course from the University Of Salford in the subject of Interior Architecture. A very design lead course that presented many challenges along the way.

What I can offer you besides instant advice on projects or various subject matter surrounding Interior Design & Architecture

- Interior Design / Architecture principles
- Professional design process
- How to introduce a professionalism to your university projects (Which will get you better noticed.)
- How to develop your own design style using key aspects of the professional design process.
- Encouragement in your creativity and proving to you that you can be bold and brave in your ideas and still achieve top marks.

- I will advise on how to improve your chances of employment in relation to your CV & Portfolio.
- How best to approach an interview at an architects or interior design practice.

On a personal note I have a hands on but `easy going` approach to me teaching and really easy to talk too.
You can ask me a million questions and I will do my best to ensure that you are comfortable through out the tutoring session.
However above all that I will do my upmost to help you get the best workout of yourself and hopefully you will learn 1 or 2 things along the way too. :)

Availability: After 5.30pm on weekdays & most weekends.

Experience: In 2011 I was able to secure my first job in architecture while still studying at university. I worked for a leading architects practice in Manchester called Leach Rhodes Walker for around a year before graduating in 2012, and moving onto a much larger architects practice (at the time) in Chapman Taylor.

I was situated within the feasibility team at CT, so i got to work on all the conceptual ideas and in some cases produce some of my own concepts which was great as a junior designer. (All this being in the middle of a horrible recession)

From CT I moved onto a well known Scottish based architects practice called Keppie Design in Manchester.
Here I began to work in the student residential sector and was lucky enough to have such a strong role in a couple of award winning interior projects in Manchester

In 2014 I joined 74 Architects to lead some of their London based student residential projects.
During my time 74 I really progressed as a professional designer and began to add many `strings to my bow` of skills.
After a period of time working all hours on numerous projects at a time and commuting up and down the country I felt it was a time for a little break. To which I went on a month long sabbatical to Barcelona and conducted some self learning and visited many areas of prestigious architecture.

Upon my return from Barcelona I was offered a position at BDP in their Manchester office as a senior interior designer working within their workplace team. I grabbed this chance with both hands thoroughly enjoyed my 2 years at BDP working on award winning projects day in and day out.

*Notable project of which I was interior design lead: MSP Bright Building, Manchester.

Over the past 2 years I have been a free lance designer working on projects that has taken me as Far East as Qatar and as far west as California. I have extremely enjoyed my time as free lance designer which has given me the diversity of working with people from all walks of life on a day to day basis. From small `quirky` office fit out projects to leading a team of 10 designers on a £144 Million pound education project in Doha.

In the past I have also lectured at the University of Salford on a number of occasions to the interior and product design students.

Over the past 8 years as a professional designer while working for some of the UK and world leading architects practices I have developed a wealth of experience that can be extremely useful to some of you budding designers.

My Best Wishes
Nathan
