My name is Masami. I have a strong academic background, with a 1st class degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University, and I am very passionate about learning. I am based in North Tonbridge.

I am acutely aware of the stress that parents and children can often go through when facing the 11+ Kent Test. I firmly believe that the best way for children to prepare for the test is for them to enjoy the learning progress, while aiming for a very specific goal in mind. Enjoyment and motivation is the key. Hence, my objective as a tutor is to make my students’ learning experience as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.
I believe that quality of teaching is much more important than quantity. My teaching strategy is based on finding out any gaps or flaws in my students’ knowledge and understanding, rather than simply teaching as a one-way process. I also instigate in my students a desire to work things out for themselves, so that they learn how to learn, rather than simply absorbing the material put in front of them. This is an important skill that is likely to help them in their future academic careers. I always make sure that homework is relevant, so as not to overload my students unnecessarily.

Experience: I have had over 13 years’ experience in the software development industry, starting as a developer, and rising up to director-level posts. Having my daughter inspired me to choose a different path, as I discovered how enjoyable it is to teach children and help them grow academically. I decided to specialise in preparing kids for the 11+ Kent Test, as I find it to be a very rewarding process. I have tutored a number of students in the past few years, including my own daughter, to develop the skills required for this challenging test.
