Information about Elle
I am a newly qualified primary teacher of Newcastle University. Since graduating from Newcastle, I have gained experience in various schools in the North East doing supply TA and cover teaching across from EYFS KS3. I am a friendly, approachable person and am able to build good rapport with others. I am kind and caring and always have the learners best interests at heart. I consider myself to be a well-rounded person with multiple interests.
I studied Sport, Coaching & Physical Education as my undergraduate degree. I then spent three years living and working in London in the charity sector. During this time, I gained and developed a great variety of skills and had contact working with a range of people. Having gained numerous skills and experiences, I decided I was ready to go back to education to do a PGCE in Primary Education. I have always wanted to work with children and young people by helping and supporting them to achieve their academic and non-academic goals to the best of their ability. I had a great education myself which involved some truly inspiring teachers. I wish to inspire children and young people and share my passion and enthusiasm for learning so that they have the academic and life skills they need to succeed in life.
I am aware that parents and carers may have some concerns relating to their childrens academic development with not being able to go to school and/or have less learning time due to the current situation we find ourselves in. For this reason, I am offering tutoring for anyone who feels it would be of benefit to whether this is going over work set during the lockdown period as home learning, consolidating work done previously or simply being at hand to support in an area that may be causing some difficulties. I have a particular interest and strength in Maths.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I have taught in years 6, 2 and 4 during my PGCE course.
Since graduating, the paid and voluntary work I have done has also given me experience across the keystages, including EYFS and, more recently, I gained some experience with KS3 as a cover teacher delivering pre-set work for Maths and Science. My work on the Isle of Wight over the summer involved working with children aged 7-17 in an outdoor pursuits setting. One of the schools involved supporting a pupil 1:1 academically, socially and emotionally. I have also planned and delivered PE/games lessons and assisted with primary school hockey and club hockey.
I deliver lessons using a variety of methods and resources to maintain engagement and motivation. I make use of: youtube and relevant websites; songs/chants; quizzes; and practical. Using different methods such as these not only ensures engagement but also aims to address the different learning styles of children (visual, auditory etc). I also use positive verbal and body language to motivate and support learners.
I appreciate that every learner is unique and has different learning preferences and aim to meet needs to the best of my ability.
