Information about Rachel
I have worked in Secondary school and College settings for eighteen years teaching all aspects of the English curriculum for KS3/KS4/ KS5 and currently work as a College English Lecturer specialising in GCSE AQA English Language Paper 1 and 2 and English Literature. As a teacher, I have a range of skills and can teach English at all levels and abilities with a proven track record of improving all grades. I have expert knowledge at all English modules and exam requirements and am responsible for planning, preparing, teaching, marking from Year 7 to GCSE mocks. Expert knowlege in all facets of Literature and Language : Macbeth, Inspector Calls, and Conflict and Relationship Poetry Anthology, Christmas Carol, Woman In Black, Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, Jekyll and Hyde as well as Language paper 1 and 2 AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas. I have taught one to one, group work and full size classes. I have facilitated many students through their GCSE and improved their grades.
I have an excellent working knowledge of the English school curriculum and what the exam boards are looking for in exam papers and am particularly strong teaching language, structure and analysis to achieve the higher marks. I work closely with all English Departments and exam boards at all times. I also have a first class honours degree in English Literature and Language (Shakespeare, 19th Century novels, poetry, applied linguistics) I have achieved great success within my field. I have evidence of improving all grades at all levels and am excellent at differentiating and tailoring material to the students needs. One of my strengths is taking a creative and methodical approach in helping students who find it difficult to access the curriculum and struggle with literacy, context, content knowledge, grammar, analysis and relevant quotes and stretching those with high ability. Having a First Class Hons degree and with my extensive experience, I can also challenge high ability students and develop their analysis and am confident with grade 5/6/7and above, recently enabling students to achieve a Grade 8 and 9.
I am reliable, punctual, enthusiastic and good humoured. I am a parent and have a son who graduated from Loughborough University with a 2-1 so am hugely empathic to parents needs and achieving the best for their children. I am a first rate teacher and have evidence of that through high Performance Management results in the classroom. I also released a successful book of first class honours English essays in Literature
