Information about Richard
Hello!
My name is Richard and I am currently teaching in a special needs school in the East Riding of Yorkshire. I am a qualified primary school teacher and have experience of working in a range of schools with a variety of different pupils. I have also taught English in Thailand to children with very little English language.
As a qualified teacher I do also have experience of one to one tuition in Beverley and the surrounding areas, especially in mathematics where I have worked with Year Six children to help them with their SAT work.
My style of teaching is a calm and laid back approach and I am able to build up positive working relationships very quickly. My friendly approach has proved to help me aid the progression of the children I have taught.
My teaching uses a range of assessment techniques to pinpoint areas where children can improve and adapting the teaching to fill in any gaps that the child may have.
As part of my tutoring I will produce an action plan with step by step points to ensure that both you, the student and myself are all working together to ensure progression. Throughout the tutoring I shall use a process called assessment for learning. This means that any work I set will then be marked, assessed and future teaching shall be influenced by this assessment. This technique means that progression is made at the correct speed and at the correct level.
Availability: I am available any evenings during the week and most weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am a qualified teacher and have worked in various primary schools covering classes from EYFS right up to Year 6. I also have taught English to non English speaking children right up to the age of 12 during some time I spent in Thailand.
As part of my supply work I have also mentored a Year Six child who had been excluded from his school environment. This also means I have experience of working with children with mild and severe learning difficulties and have adapted my teaching considerably to suit the needs of the child.
I have experience working with children with a variety of Educational needs including behavioural issues and education special needs.
