Information about Kartik
Hi,
I am a physics graduate from the University of Bristol, since my graduation I have been worked at the large hardon collider in CERN and have done some travelling, yet it seems clear to me that a career in education is what I want to pursue.
For the last 6 years I have been an online tutor for sciences and maths. Since graduating I didn`t think I would end up teaching but the more I do it the more I enjoy it and the more satisfaction it gives me.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: In these last few years I have taught hundreds lessons to students from all ages, backgrounds and abilities for physics, chemistry, maths, biology and computing from KS3 up to A level in all different exam boards in the UK.
Also in this time have learnt how to structure lessons so we can get the most from our time. In general this depends on what the student needs to improve on:
1) Explain and Test - There may be large gaps of knowledge in certain topics. In this case we will spend a few lessons where go through all the content in that topic, this will be like a conversation where we draw illustrations and make some good notes. I`ll also be asking little questions throughout to check your understanding. Then after covering the whole topic we will go through many questions together to really cement your understanding. (Note: I do find that setting homework is very useful however that`s up to your preference)
2) Exam Prep - When it comes to exams often students don`t understand how to revise for exam very well. I have found that creating a revision schedule and plan months/weeks ahead of exams works really well. This involves me setting homework to make summary notes every week and also every week we go through questions topic by topic in a systematic way so that we don`t have any gaps and have practiced everything thoroughly before the exam!
