Information about Kirsty
I am an English Literature graduate from the University of Brighton and a Literature graduate from Goldsmith`s, University of London where I completed a Masters in Children`s Literature. I have achieved qualified teaching status in English Secondary from Sussex University. I have taught at primary and secondary schools across the South East and have tutored students of all ages and abilities.
I am currently working for the National Teaching and Advisory Service, whereby I am teaching students who are unable to attend an educational setting due to their Special Educational Needs (Autism, SEMH, Dyslexia, Auditory loss). I am finding this job incredibly rewarding and have a high success rate with the students I have taught (Primary - A level, including Functional skills).
From my degrees and professional experience I have gained a lot of experience in the Primary curriculum, essay writing, coursework, GCSE, Functional Skills levels 1-3 and A level exam preparation and presentations.
As well as teaching I have a passion for everything outdoors - I enjoy rock climbing, camping and kayaking. However, I am also happy with a cuppa tea and a piece of cake!
Availability: I am available during evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have completed a Masters in Education, whereby the theories behind teaching and learning where greatly focused on. I have taken my knowledge from my Masters and transferred these theories into practice by taking a PGCE in secondary English. Since qualifying as a teacher I have taught in mainstream Secondary and Primary schools across Sussex and as Special Educational Needs Outreach teacher.
In addition to teaching in a classroom setting, I have been tutoring students of all different age groups (Early years - adult learners) and abilities for three years. These students have gone on to achieve excellent grades in their exams.
