Information about Joseph

Hello,

I`m Joseph and I am a final year medical student studying at UEA in Norwich.

I`ve always had a passion for teaching, especially subjects I enjoyed the most during school, in particular sciences and English Literature (the latter of which forms part of my spare time).

I have a background in teaching STEM to children of a primary school age in 2019, leading all the way up to Year 13 students aiming to get into medical school in 2021; helping them on their path to developing portfolios to attain interviews.

I believe in being well-rounded and looking at people (students included) as people who all have unique ways of dealing with problems, school subjects being no different. As a result, I feel confident I will be able to identify and utilise a students strengths when prepping for examinations.

After just sitting my final exams, I know first-hand the stress of exam prep and how having someone who has recently gone through the same thing to give advice and help can be extremely beneficial.

In my spare time, my hobbies include squash, drums and reading.

Experience: My experience includes STEM teaching within a primary school as well as becoming a tutor for GCSE science students during my time at sixth form. I found the opportunity to aid students struggling with certain concepts both satisfying and thoroughly rewarding. Volunteering on a palliative care ward as well as developing patient-centred consultation skills has only been beneficial to my ability to communicate with those of all ages. Gaining this insight into those with life-threatening illnesses has taught me the best medicine can come through words.

I believe that little and often is the key to success in any subject, while utilising basic memory recall and testing oneself with practice questions form the key environment for long-term learning: immersion.

References, DBS and exam certification are available upon request.

Note: Due to my studies, I live at the above address as well as within the Norwich area for equal portions of the year so can tutor in either area.

Furthermore, I am available for online tutoring.
