Information about Hannah
I have many years` experience of working with children and young people, running holiday clubs and leading youth groups. I am also a silver level qualified Duke of Edinburgh Award leader, and as a result have had great fun preparing students to survive both inside and outside of the classroom. My hobbies include art and craft, training animals and photography, and I like to bring these creative aspects of my character into everything I do.
I help the tutee to discover their own preferred style of learning, and then work with them to develop a tailored programme for success. I particularly enjoy helping students to discover the root of their misunderstandings, and then formulating ways for them to learn and revise effectively. I readily adapt to the individual requirements of learners, and consistently keep detailed records of previous work with each student to ensure excellent progress.
Availability: Usually Monday - Friday (evenings) Please note that in exam season I have very limited availability so may be unable to accommodate some students` timetables, and so I encourage students to get in touch as soon as possible!
Please note that I am unable to travel to my students, but I am located in North Springfield, Chelmsford.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: For 3 years I worked as a science teacher in a local comprehensive secondary school rated good by OfSted. However, during that time I became increasingly frustrated about how little time I was able to devote to each student in my class. After leading highly successful revision classes for small groups of students at GCSE level I chose to move away from the classroom in order to better focus on the individual needs of my tutees.
In the past six academic years (2013-19) I have been inundated with requests from students as my popularity has spread. In particular I have a number of highly satisfied A-level Chemistry students, many of whom have made remarkable progress, often achieving 2 or 3 grades more highly as a result of my tuition. Alongside private tuition, I have worked part-time at a local secondary school as an intervention tutor in GCSE maths, and I have also taught GCSE students who do not attend school due to medical issues. I have consistently receive feedback from students and their parents which demonstrates that I go above and beyond the subject being studied, as I believe that it is imperative for students to both enjoy the subject and to be treated as unique individuals.
