Information about Paul
Hello my name is Paul, I have recently returned from New Zealand where I was on the prestigious Maurice Wilkins scholarship to do medicinal chemistry and immunology at Auckland University. My PhD was on the synthesis and testing of anti-cancer vaccines. I supplemented my income by demonstrating laboratory chemistry to undergraduates and one-on-one tutoring of undergraduate chemistry. Before I went to NZ, I gained a Masters at the University of Nottingham where I studied chemistry. I am from Reading, and went to Little Heath School where I specialized in maths and science.
I am a friendly person who understands that learning new subjects can be hard. I have been tutoring my cousins kids at key stage 3 science for free, from this experience I realized that I was pretty good at explaining science and maths in a clear and understandable way. I managed to get my first student with [contact detail removed]from a fail to a 1st in degree level Chemistry.
Availability: I am almost fully booked between 4 and 9.30 Monday to Saturday (although I have a couple of slots available). I am fully booked on a Saturday as I am tutoring from 6.45-8.45am then volunteering with MENCAP, helping children with learning disabilities on a Saturday from 9-5 and have more tutoring afterwards. I don`t tutor on Sundays as it is my only day off. I always give priority to my current students especially during exam time. I have a car so I am able to travel to where ever you want to be tutored. Feel free to send me a message, I am happy to answer any questions.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: Currently I am tutoring 1 person A-Level Physics, 5 people A-level chemistry, 3 people A-Level Maths, 1 person GCSE Maths, 2 people GCSE science, 2 people key stage 3 maths and science, and 3 children key stage 2 maths (one of which is doing the 11+ entrance exam). I have previously tutored students for STEP exams, further maths, A-Level Physics, A-Level Biology and Degree level Chemistry. I have experience working with kids with learning disabilities (in particular dyslexia, ADHD, Aspergers and Autism). I am flexible in my approach, I will try and find a way which the student can remember and apply the knowledge. Everyone learns in a different way. I am also able to help with exam technique and increasing confidence in the student.
