Hi, my name is Shamiala (Shim for short) I am a qualified female secondary science teacher and currently teach biology chemistry and physics up to and including GCSE including triple. I have been teaching the sciences for 10 years and private tutored for 6 years. I currently teach at a mixed School in Surrey. I am a friendly, patient and an approachable teacher. I am able to explain complex concepts and break these down so my students can grasp and understand.
Students are usually not confident in the classroom. I am able to lift the confidence of your child and allow them to enjoy the subject to its fullest.
I am open minded and have a sense of humour, these qualities I feel will put your child at ease especially as tutoring can be quite intense. Tutoring in the home is your child`s learning space. If one approach does not work, I will try another and keep on doing so until they understand. Learning is not a `one size fits all` and students learn in different ways.
Availability: Please ask- usually after school or evening. I am quite flexible.

Experience: I have been teaching for 10 years in various grammar ndependent and state schools. I currently teach science at a large School in Surrey. I can teach all exam boards including Edexcel, AQA, IGCSE, OCR. I am able to support and go through all required practicals for all 3 sciences. I have access to exam style questions and past papers. Within 10mins of meeting your child and assessing them verbally, I am able to assess their needs. I can support students with science vocab so they know exactly what the exer is looking for in exams.
I have taught students with dyslexia, SEND needs and those that have suffer from anxiety and mental health issues. All students that I have tutored have achieved their target grade or have gone above their target grade. I am highly experienced in teaching students with learning difficulties and have taught those that want to achieve grades 8-9. I tutor in the homes of students, my sessions are structured yet relaxed.

Shim has been doing an hour of science tutoring a week with my 14 year old son James for a term now. He is really enthusiastic about these sessions which is great. Shim is punctual and really well organised - she works through the various topics thoroughly and has definitely improved James understanding and knowledge of key topics. Highly recommended!

Shim is brilliant at engaging with my kids and has a very calm and clear way of explaining a topic. She comes well prepared to every lesson and supports the teaching with exam questions. She is very reliable and really understands the requirements for the different syllabuses. She undoubtedly has made a massive difference to my daughters understanding and confidence in the subject and they enjoy their lessons with her. I highly recommend Shim.

Miss Shim is an exceptional tutor. She is knowledgeable, and very well organised with a great ability to tailor her teaching style and techniques to my daughter’s individual needs. She is outstanding , I can see the way she explains the lessons to my daughter . She’s the best science tutor I’ve ever known , she know what she’s doing and my daughter comfortable with Miss shims’ teaching and says she is able to explain topics clearly .
