Information about Milly
I use traditional UK methods and materials.
In addition, for parents wishing to stretch and challenge their children, I use SHANGHAI MATHS PROJECT resources up to year 11. This is based on a successful maths programme delivered in Shanghai, adapted for the English curriculum.
(For students who really love maths above and beyond even this, I also have a stock of 1970`s and 1980`s UK exam board papers, so they can do the same maths as their parents/grandparents. For youngsters, I teach geometry classes, where they learn the art of geometric construction).
I am seeking a group of children to teach consistently throughout the year (whether lockdown or not), with the aim of achieving academic excellence.
I am qualified with a biomedical sciences degree and also a Masters degree in research methods at King`s College. I have a longstanding interest in maths and the sciences and enjoy helping others to learn.
Availability: Weekdays and Sundays.
Weekly or fortnightly 1:1 support or small group teaching.
HOME SCHOOLING
In addition to short, weekly 1:1 support, I can provide bespoke home-schooling packages for mathematics.
EXAM/MOCK preparation packages for SATS, GCSE and A-level.
Required: a quiet tutoring environment, no pets.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I have several years of teaching experience and have taught both children and adults. I am familiar with the KS2,KS3, GCSE and A-level curriculum in mathematics and the sciences.
My mainstream employment history includes five years experience as a Mathematics Lecturer at a Further Education College, teaching GCSE Mathematics. I hold a Level 3 award in teaching and assessment.
I have also worked for one year as a teaching fellow in Haematology, teaching undergraduate MBBS students.
I have worked as maths and science tutor in south-east London for many years providing 1:1 tuition and also group tuition for siblings/peers.
My tutorial sessions includes exam preparation by exam board, topic preparation and consolidation through homework.
