Information about Alexander
I am a confident 31 year old, who has recently completed an integrated masters in chemistry (First Class Honours) at UEA, where I was awarded the best final year research project in biological chemistry. I am now undertaking a PhD, under a world-leading Doctoral Training Program with the Norwich Research Park. Before completing my undergraduate degree, some of my work was already published in a registered peer-reviewed scientific journal (Carbon 196, August 2022). I am friendly and understanding, with good focus and drive in my passions, including helping students recognise and achieve their potential.
Availability: I am currently unavailable for tutoring from now until the end of October.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I currently work as an associate tutor and alongside my ongoing PhD student research within UEA. I also tutor a year 7 student who has seen a marked improvement in her science grades since we began. Previously I have tutored a final year undergraduate chemistry student in their various modules, and after directing and assisting effective revision they achieved a 2nd Class First Division BSc.
In the last few years I have worked with lecturers in effective feedback systems from students, to aid in the improvement of teaching for undergraduate students. Peripherally, I have friends who have previously tutored successfully, who have provided advice and guidance for my first tutoring role.
Some time ago, before my university studentship, I initially started tutoring to friends whilst I was undertaking GCSEs, and those who I tutored excelled in achieving better grades than initially predicted. Before going to university I worked as a sous chef for several years, where I taught many commis chefs and developed my aptitude for motivating and teaching, as well as organisation, and concise and clear communication.
