Information about Amanda
I aim to teach students to understand concepts rather than learn by rote. - Qualified teacher and examiner. - Many students go onto medicine, vetmed and dentistry. - Prepare students for 13+, 11+ and scholarships: Westminster, Habs, QE Boys, Latymer, St Albans, Oundle, Bedford Modern and Kimbolton: for students outside the UK and UK based. I also have many international students studying IGCSE, CIE, IB and iA levels.
During lesson we look at exam questions and examiners reports to highlight the skills and knowledge needed to attain the top grades. I use exam papers to identify areas of weakness so we can then work on specific skills or topics. We can then revise topics and make revision materials.
Having dyslexia myself means I can help dyslexic students learn techniques to help them with both revision and accessing information on the exam papers. I have extensive SEN experience both at School and at home (my daughter has Down Syndrome).
Availability: I work Monday and Wednesday evenings, Saturday and during the day (school hours).
I am full evenings and weekends at the moment but I am happy to add students to my waiting list for June after the exams.
I do still have a few spaces during the day
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I`m a qualified teacher and examiner with 23 years experience. Until recently I was working part time in a school in Hertfordshire teaching A level biology. I have worked with AQA and Edexcel as an examiner and moderator. This has allowed me to gain a good understanding of the exam requirements.

I have also tutored geography to a student who is blind, we used a variety of tactile resources that had been adapted to help with graphs, maths and maps. I have a number of students who have ADD, each with different needs, I have adapted either my resources and or my teaching in accordance.
DBS Check: Yes

The style is effective. The clarity when a concept is introduced helps improve my understanding. The types of past paper questions is vast and very realistic that greatly assist the learning process.
