Information about Hal
I am a recent graduate with a passion for education and knowledge, and I understand the importance of making education accessible for everyone. I believe that every student should have the chance to achieve to the best of their capabilities and I would love to be a part of that process.
In December 2014, I was awarded a First Class BSc (Hons) Health Sciences by the Open University and continue to enjoy learning through both self-teaching and my additional employment as an assistant land surveyor. The latter is a position highly dependent on logical thinking, forward planning and numerical skills. Although I have a good understanding of a wide range of subjects, my main strengths are in the sciences and mathematics for which I have a genuine passion.
I appreciate that a large part of learning also depends on a good learning environment, and so I understand the importance of making students feel at ease and making learning more fun and therefore memorable where possible.
Availability: I am currently available evenings only.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring since October 2013 and currently have five students. My previous students have been of variety of abilities and ages, ranging from 10 - 21, providing me with experience of communicating information at a variety of levels.
I have participated in a one on one paired reading scheme which provided young students with the chance to practice their reading skills while taking ownership of their learning by choosing their reading material.
I have also previously produced lesson plans and taught a series of Year 7 classes regarding bullying and the importance of mediation.

Although we have only had five sessions so far, the results from a barely C GCSE to a nearly B are impressive and there are several weeks yet before the finals, so we are extremely pleased with progress so far. Hal is punctual, polite and professional and we would have no doubts about recommending him.

Hal has been teaching Sciences to my daughter for the past five months.
Not only has Hal increased my daughters confidence, he has a way of teaching that keeps her interest and makes learning fun, which can be challenging when you are teaching a 14 year old!
He has always been reliable, punctual and always comes fully prepared to make the lesson enjoyable.
I would highly recommend Hal.
