Information about Kate

I am 35 years old and graduated from Leeds University with a 2:1 degree in Spanish Langauge and Literature with an accredited distinction in speaking. I spent a year in Murcia working for the British Council teaching English to Spanish students aged from 11-17. I am passionate about learning and teaching Spanish and I am keen to use my knowledge and experience to enhance other`s language skills. I will tailor my classes to work on any areas of weakness to get the most out of my students and rest assured you will receive a high quality yet fun language lesson.
I have been tutoring for the last 9 years and have a wealth of experience in getting the best results from my students.

Availability: Lots of flexibility in days / evenings / weekends

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: Over the past 9 years I have been privately tutoring students of varying levels from a 5 year old beginner, to GCSE level, AS/ A Level and also a number of adult casual learners. I am keen to work with other students of different levels.
Previously, I taught English for a year while working for the British Council in Murcia, Spain. This required me to source interesting material for classes, plan and then teach classes of up to 30 students at a time. As the level of English was low in some years I had to direct the entire class in Spanish and work out the best ways to encourage the children to engage in the English Language.
In addition to the language assistant role I also privately tutored 6 students whilst living in Spain, the ages ranged from 11 to an adult learner and each session was tailored to suit their needs.
Whilst at University I completed a City and Guilds Professional Development Award in Education, this required working on a mentoring programme with a GCSE student and documenting their progress.

Kate was easy to engage when I was looking for a tutor for my daughter and we were quickly able to agree dates and times etc when she would provide tuition. Kate is also quick to respond to any queries. As far as the actual tuition goes, it is early days yet but Kate has been reliable and consistent so far.

Really pleased with how much Kate has helped my daughter after only a few weeks of tuition. Kate has helped her to improve considerably for her Spanish reading and listening GCSE exams in a very short period of time. My daughter`s teachers at school have even commented on how much my daughter seems to have improved over the last few weeks. My daughter`s really enjoyed her lessons with Kate and felt very comfortable with Kate from the first lesson. Kate has helped my daughter to improve her exam technique and my daughter went into her reading and listening exams feeling much more confident and less panicked about the listening which she had been dreading. I would really recommend Kate as a tutor.
