Information about Mark
I read Modern Languages (German with French) at Newcastle University, then completed a postgraduate diploma in European Business Management (Anglia Ruskin University). I am very enthusiastic about Germany and France - their language, culture and people. I spent an academic year at the University of Tübingen during my degree, two months on student placement in Nancy (Lorraine), and then three months on a work placement in Hannover during my postgraduate diploma. I also took the Trinity College London TESOL certificate and am a qualified TEFL teacher.
Approach to tutoring:
I like to work with the language learner using a structured, easy to follow approach, tailored to their requirements. I devote time to assessing the strengths, weaknesses and motivation of the student - how I can best build up their skills and confidence.
Availability: I am available Mondays to Fridays (usually 08.00 - 20.00) for online lessons.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I gave English tuition to students while at university in Germany. I have been teaching on a regular basis since 2009, when I assisted the German teacher at Croydon College with groups of A level German students.
I also qualified as a TEFL teacher, and attained the PTTLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification. I have taught English as a foreign language to young people in a London language school, and also to individuals. I have been tutoring regularly there since 2011.
I currently offer German at KS3, GCSE and A level, French to KS3 and GCSE level, as well as to adult learners, and English as a foreign language to international students at elementary, intermediate, advanced and proficient levels.

Mark responded immediately and we arranged a convenient date/time to tutor a GCSE student.
Very professional and a hit with my teenager who after only 3 lessons has more confidence speaking German than in 4 years of learning at school.

On recommendation of my son`s school we used tutor hunt web portal to find Mark to teach our son German.
Mark is a friendly character, flexible and enthusiastic . The first introductory lesson worked out well with my son. He is prepared and explored carefully the skill & competence level of my son. Based on this experience, we have started to implement weekly German session into his schedule.

After the first lesson on what I would like to focus on I have had 4 lessons and they have all been great. Mark gives me the choice of what to do each time but also with some structure to them. As a complete beginner myself I would defiantly recommend mark to anyone whether a beginner too or someone with more expeince.

Just had one session so far. All good. Mark made a big effort to understand the type of support that my daughter needed with her French
Tutors Response :
Thank you very much for the feedback, Caroline.

Mark has helped our son improve his written and spoken German in preparation for his GCSE. He was always punctual and a good communicator, working with great patience. I can definitly say that Mark heped our son to improve over a short space of time, was encouraging and developed a good rapport. I would recommend him to others based on our experience of his tutoring services.

I have had two sessions with Mark and have enjoyed each one. He comes to my house. I am an adult learner, wanting to learn German for when I visit Germany. He came armed with many questions to understand my current level of knowledge and areas of interest. He is always interested in feedback and has even given me useful websites to look up, as well as homework.
