Information about Amy
I`m an experienced and passionate primary school teacher, confident in coaching and delivering Maths and English, including spelling and reading, alongside other non core subjects.
I am also a specialist in French and music (singing) and have a decades experience teaching in these areas.
I am willing to travel to you and can devise lessons and support based on the needs of your child. My teaching style is very flexible, I like to discuss and collaborate with the child and move with their learning needs, rather than follow prescri ptive worksheets. I have found this to work best in the past and children respond very well to this too.
I am willing to work with children and young people between 4 and 13 years old (Ks1/2/3). I am qualified to work with all ages in this bracket but my particular specialism would be in KS2 and I have supported many young people through their SATs, including since the curriculum overhaul. Please email for an informal chat about options.
Availability: My availability is mainly after school or weekends.
If your child is home schooled, I can support during school hours during the week.
I am experienced and comfortable using Skype or Zoom to run lessons if you need to isolate or live more than 25 minutes away.
I offer a discounted rate of £20 if you take 1 hour lessons at my home in Paulsgrove, online sessions or for 45 minute sessions at your home. Alternatively an hour session at your home is £25.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have worked with children for 10 years, in 1:1 and group capacities. I have taught primary for 7 years and Ive been speaking French since I was a child! I have a PGCE with French specialism and a degree in Creative Writing and Drama. I have also been teaching children singing and performance skills for close to a decade at dance schools and theatres around Portsmouth/Southampton. After my daughter was born, I also qualified in STA baby and preschool swimming and STA swimming award and this is my main job at this time.
I am fully DBS checked and have no criminal convictions. I have a full clean drivers license and I also have an up to date life savers qualification.

Mrs Sackman is an excellent teacher and Tutor
After a couple of lessons my daughter is very happy and indeed willing to do more , this is because of Mrs Sackmans special way of making subjects interesting and stress free
We are very happy indeed and would continue for sure
Amy is a warm and friendly tutor who got on very well with our two boys (aged 8 and 6) who had weekly sessions over the summer holidays to help keep up their writing. Amy also helped our 4 year old daughter with her phonics at the same time and this has helped her enormously with her reading.
My daughter has really taken to Amy. It`s early days but Amy seems to really understand where my daughter is struggling and is making the learning fun, which is great.
My daughter Lois loves coming to Amy`s for help with her reading and writing.
My children (aged 8 & 9) get on very well with Amy, they look forward to her coming and make good progress each week. Amy is very professional and tailors the lessons to suit the weekly needs.
Lovely tutor who is really helping my daughter.
