Information about Tim

I live in Harlesden with my family. I have always loved history and teaching it. I enjoy seeing students gain a love and fascination for the subject. I also have a lot of experience in how to help students prepare for exams.

Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wedenesday from 5pm - 8pm

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: I have taught and tutored history for over 5 years. I taught history in an outstanding school last year (Twyford CoE, Ealing) and continue to teach GCSE and ALEVEL in a non selective state school which produces some of the best GCSE and A`level results in the country (JFS, Harrow).

This summer in 2017 I taught a mixed ability class which achieved 7 A*s and 8 As out of 26 students.

I am familiar with various exam boards and enjoy helping students break down often overwhelming topics as well as practicing exam techniques. I am especially experienced with EDEXCEL GCSE board, including topics such as the COLD WAR, RUSSIA, BRITAIN 1931 - 71, 20th C International Relations, Crime and Punishment through time and Elizabth I. I am also familiar with A`level Edexcel including topics such as Mussolini`s Italy, Causes of WW1, Germany in the 20thC, and the British Empire.

My head of department, Mrs Ashcroft, of JFS has described me by saying:
"Mr is an established GCSE teacher having experience of teaching multiple GCSE groups each academic year. He has particular strength in supporting students with examination technique and runs successful out of lesson support focusing on this. He has also developed revision materials for the department to support students in the run up to exams. His strong examination results 91% of students achieving A*-C across his 2 classes in summer of 2017 evidence the effectiveness of his teaching. Mr is also one of key teachers at A Level, having experience of teaching both Year 12 ad Year 13 and preparing students for both paper 2 and 3 in the Edexcel course. He is an excellent classroom practitioner who is known amongst the students for his enthusiasm and passion for the subject. He is a committed teacher who is focused on developing a sense of curiosity and fascination of history as well as securing good progress."
