Experienced Geography & Business Studies Teacher | GCSE & A Level | EPQ & UCAS Support

I am an experienced secondary school teacher offering friendly, supportive tuition in Geography and Business Studies, alongside EPQ and UCAS application support.

I have taught students across a wide range of abilities and confidence levels. Some students need help understanding the fundamentals and building confidence, while others are looking to push towards the highest grades. My approach is always based around the individual student: identifying gaps, explaining difficult concepts clearly and developing the skills needed to make measurable progress.

Geography:
I provide tuition from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE and A Level/IB. I have extensive experience helping students improve their performance, often making significant progress from their starting point and exceeding their initial expectations.

Support can focus on subject knowledge, revision, exam technique, essay writing, interpreting resources and data, question planning and model answers. I also have extensive experience advising students on A Level Geography NEA coursework.

Business Studies:
I hold a Master’s degree in International Management and have taught Business Studies in UK schools through to A Level.

I can help students develop their understanding of key business concepts and, importantly, learn how to apply that knowledge effectively in examinations. Particular emphasis can be placed on case-study application, analysis, evaluation and structuring higher-mark responses.

Whether a student is struggling with the basics, looking to move up several grades or aiming for the very highest results, tuition is adapted to their individual needs.

EPQ:
I have extensive experience running and supervising the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and have successfully guided students through the complete process, with many achieving excellent results including A and A* grades.

I can support students with developing and refining a research question, research methods, evaluating sources, project organisation, academic writing, referencing, analysis and evaluation, as well as preparation for the final presentation.

UCAS & University Applications:
I have around 10 years’ experience supporting students through the UCAS process and can provide individual guidance with university choices, applications and personal statements.

This includes helping students who are unsure where to start, as well as supporting applications for competitive courses and universities, including Russell Group universities and Oxford and Cambridge.

I can help students develop their ideas and experiences into a strong, authentic application, including support with the current UCAS personal statement format.

My approach:
My aim is to help students make progress from their own starting point. This might mean building confidence and securing a pass, moving up one or more grades, or developing the sophistication needed for the highest marks.

Online tuition can be supplemented with resources, model answers, question practice, marking and detailed feedback. I offer flexible support ranging from regular weekly tuition to focused help with revision, examinations, coursework, EPQ or university applications.

Availability: I can offer sessions outside of school hours, I have flexibility to offer times on most weekday evenings and weekends.

Experience: BSc and MSc from Exeter University, PGCE qualified and QTS since 2007. Both Independent sector and State school teaching experience. Teaching A level, IB and GCSE since 2010. Extensive experience with fieldwork, coursework and NEAs. Tutoring experience since 2014, with success helping students improve their grades, achieving up to grade 9 GCSE and. A* at A level.
