Please note : I can now also offer Online Tutoring in Maths and English during the current Lockdown via Zoom. These lessons are interactive and follow the teaching plans for all Primary and Independent schools. Catch up lessons, revision, 11+, Senior School Entrance exams all successfully catered for and highly rated by current students.
An inspirational teacher with energy, experience and a passion for education. I am an Honours graduate, possessing a Diploma of Education with Merit and an additional Certificate of Extended Professional Competence from Homerton College Cambridge. A true professional who has been employed in the Independent sector for the last 20 years as Form tutor and Specialist of Maths and English teaching to all key stages of Primary school children. Previous experience has been in the state sector in both Primary and Senior Schools. A highly regarded teacher who now aims to continue her enthusiasm and love of teaching via temporary supply work and private tutoring. I am able to assist your child with homework; teach them how to learn; boost confidence and self esteem; prep for entrance exams and just inspire them to be the best in all areas of Education.

Irene has been tutoring our son (in year 2) remotely by Zoom since his school was closed in March 2020. She has been covering English and Maths with him. She has been patient, enthusiastic, well prepared and very easy to deal with. Her tutoring has made a real difference to our son`s learning during this difficult time and she is highly recommended.

Irene is brilliant, she is very upbeat, positive, enthusiastic and heaps of patience! She is helping my son prepare for his year 6 SATS. My goal was to help him have the confidence in himself to approach the tests without anxiety. I have already noticed a big difference in the way he comes home from school more positive because of the extra reinforcing of topics with Irene. Highly recommended.

Irene is a fabulous personality with a true passion for education. She has a clear desire to seek and drive improvement in both our children. We have a son (11) and daughter (7), both of whom have themselves said that working with Mrs May is fun, although challenging, but ultimately very helpful for them. We know they have seen significant improvements because this has shown in their end of year results and feedback.
Irene is always keeping our kids on their toes and pushing them to excel. This is exactly what we were after in a tutor and anyone that is able to secure her time will definitely see the value of her expertise and experience.
