Information about Michael

I am an experienced, successful and popular science teacher who loves my job. I get no bigger joy, in my day-to-day life, than seeing the pupil`s faces as they start to believe in themselves and their ability, and while results day comes with huge nerves, it is a massive sense of pride to see the pupils get what they achieved. I am hugely popular in my school with many of the students in my school wishing to have me as their teacher and continue to study science because of our lessons together. I don`t know why, maybe it`s because I rightly come across as loving my job, subject and that I like to teach in an unorthodox manner.
I have branched off to specialise in teaching year 11 pupils and typically I am the designated physics teacher. I have been considered our specialist when it comes to delivering physics lessons to GCSE pupils however in reality, I`m equally as capable at teaching all three sciences to the very highest standards. I will bring a lot of experience in teaching pupils how to best approach understanding the topics and how to answer the questions. I`ll use analogies, stories, pictures and anything at my disposal to ensure you will understand. I pride myself in going the extra distance for my pupils and I like to think this has been why I`ve enjoyed the success I have thus far in my career.

Availability: I work in Notting Hill in London but live on the London/Essex border in a town called South Woodford. I would be willing to travel, however, I would be looking to see how close your residence is to a train station should you be some distance away from where I live.

With the extra responsibility and the high demands of working in one of the more high-profile schools in the country, I will only be available 2-3 days a week. I mark my books weekly and plan my lessons in detail. The consequence of this is that it means I would only be able to take on 2-3 pupils max this year.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I am an experienced science teacher with considerable success in teaching students of a broad range of ability. I am currently a lead practitioner ( a role based upon my excellent track record and results and outstanding teaching) in one of London`s most prestigious secondary comprehensive schools. I have averaged >1.0 value added for the past three years which puts me in the top 5% of teachers in the entire country. This is teacher language (sorry), so what it means to you is that the mean average of pupil performance is 1 grade better than their predicted government target.

I have seven years of teaching experience of getting the very best out of pupils in GCSE science, mainly from the AQA specification. While the specifications are different, science is science, and the theory behind the topics remain the same. I am capable of teaching all three science subjects, as part of the triple course, with me being the dedicated physics and biology teacher at my school. Again, this still means I teach B1, B2, B3, P1, P2, P3, C1, C2 and C3.

Should you wish to choose me to help you meet, and maybe surpass, your potential, I will make available the considerable resources I have crafted over my time teaching GCSEs, which would include revision cards, revision packs, a library of revision videos that I have downloaded/sourced, and exam questions. Should you decide to work with someone else, then I wish you all the best!

Michael has been helping my son with all three science subjects for the Double Higher GCSE award for the past eighteen months. He makes learning interesting and fun and my son really likes him. His GCSE predictions have improved greatly since he has been working with Michael.

Michael has been tutoring my son for a few weeks now and I am so pleased. My son feels so comfortable and actually looks forward to his lesson. Michael is always professional and I can already see my son`s confidence growing. I would definitely recommend Michael as a tutor.

My son says he finds science makes a lot more sense since Michael has been helping him. He says he finds things easier to follow now in class.
For our part Michael has been very friendly, reliable and straightforward.
