Hello! I am a fully qualified teacher with 26 years` experience. I have taught History from GCSE through to Degree-level, and English Literature at GCSE and A-level. I have also examined for AQA, OCR and Edexcel. My particular strengths lie in assessable skills development, especially essay production, document analysis, argument formation and critical analysis. My specialist areas are British, German, Italian, Russian and American history from 1800 onwards; and in Literature I have considerable experience with Victorian and Modern prose and poetry as well as the principal Shakespeare plays used in current syllabuses.

Experience: I have spent nearly three decades in teaching. During the completion of my doctoral thesis at the University of Southampton, I taught Modern History to undergraduates before moving to Yorkshire to serve a prestigious College of Further Education where I specialised in A-level. My student satisfaction rates were several points ahead of the entire national average, and I am comfortable with related subjects such as Ancient History and Politics. I also have a long list of British and international publications, many of which are available online. My experience with Literature is very similar. The focus is on skills and methods of interpretation, especially critical evaluation using literary theory. I have also been a Centre Coordinator for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
