Experience: Senior Architectural Designer and Chartered Architectural Technologist with more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry and the education sector in both the United Kingdom and the Middle East. I have gained experience on various projects including residential, mixed use, offices, leisure, education and hospitals. I have PhD in Planning, Housing & Human Geography and a Fellow in Higher Education Academy and Part-Time Lecturer.
I am a Director at GB Atelier since February 2016 and my main responsibility is to work directly with clients on their projects. From early design stages that include a feasibility study, design development, planning, tendering and detailed drawings making sure the main aspects of the project are covered.
I have extensive computer experience including graphic software; Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Micro Station and Sketch-up.
I am Fellow in Higher Education Academy and Part-Time Lecturer at the School of the Built Environment, Engineering and Computing, Leeds Beckett University . My research focuses on the resilience of the built environment and disaster risk management/ reduction.
I am a Professional Assessor for the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologist (CIAT) and a Judge for CIAT Annual Awards. I am also actively involved with my professional institute CIAT at local and national levels. In 2017, I was a Finalist as Best Architectural Technologist in the European Women in Construction and Engineering.

A great Tutor and Teacher!! Dr. Gihan is a genuine teacher and has a lot of knowledge within the architecture field and more. I honestly can’t thank her enough for all the help that she has give me, as with her support I was able to achieve my BA Part 1 Architecture, something which I didn’t think was possible. Gihan helped take my project to a another level and taught me everything I know about architecture and softwares so far. She has given me the confidence to continue on to my Masters in Architecture and has given me all the right guidance and tools to pursue my career in the field. I would definitely recommend Gihan as a tutor, as she honestly is the best!!
