Ioana

My name is Ioana and I just finished my 3rd year studying Popular Music (BA Hons) at Edinburgh Napier University. I have been playing guitar and bass for 6 and 4 years respectively, with a focus on styles such as rock, pop and blues. My live performance experience goes back to 2014, and since then I have performed an ecclectic range of original and covers songs. As of 2019, I have played a lot more lengthy function/cover gigs, where certain songs often inspired some of my guitar and bass tuition material.

Availability: I can tutor from Monday to Friday, with the exception of Tuesday 2-3 pm. My available times are from 9 am to 6 pm.

Experience: I have experience teaching young children, teens and adults, and can easily adapt my teaching style to suit everyone`s needs and wants. I often prepare tuition songs by ear, if the songs my students want to learn have no available sheet music online. I have previously provided extra tuition material and lesson exercises created in my spare time at no extra cost if I and/or my students believe it will help aid their learning and progress. My teaching approach is often very conversational, in order to help my students really engage in the lessons and to help ensure that they leave the lessons having learned something new and made some progress. I encourage them to ask questions whenever something is not clear; no questions are daft! My lessons often include fast-paced games/exercises that help students improve their aural skills (i.e chord and rhythms recognition) so that if they wish to learn songs by themselves, they can do so by ear, or as well as using tablature and notation.
While my teaching style is often conversational, I can easily adapt to more introverted students as well.
