Information about Edward
Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology student and the University of Cambridge with three years` experience in teaching chemistry and mathematics from KS3 to KS5. I have taught students wishing to achieve a range of target outcomes at GCSE and A level by offering practice interviews to those seeking further study on leaving sixth form, and mentoring students who have recently struggled or underperformed with topic tests.
Many problems in maths can be explained in more than one way, and I am confident in using both algebraic and graphical tools to help students tackle the content on their own terms. For chemistry students, I often ask questions about work students might have done in the lab to probe understanding, and I may write additional work to support student progression between scheduled lessons. I am used to receiving queries about niche topics or past paper questions between lessons for which I write sample solutions, or use as opportunities to direct the next session.

I started Year 13 getting Ds in Chemistry and somehow finished it with an A*. I think that probably says more about Ed than anything I could write here. From our first session, Ed managed to make the sheer amount of A-level Chemistry feel far less intimidating. He has a really relaxed way of teaching while still being incredibly thorough, and he was brilliant at taking topics that seemed unnecessarily complicated and making them feel completely manageable. I never felt stupid for not understanding something, and I always came away from sessions feeling considerably more confident than when I went in. He had a way of making Chemistry feel less like a collection of things I had to memorise for an exam and more like something I could actually conceptualise and reason through, while still making sure I knew exactly what examiners were looking for. By exam season, Chemistry had gone from the subject I was most worried about to the one I felt genuinely confident in. Started with a D, finished with an A*. Unfortunately, this means Ed now has fairly undeniable evidence that hes good at his job. Couldnt recommend him enough.

I had a really positive experience with Edward. He has a very relatable way of explaining topics, which made even the more difficult concepts much easier to understand. Instead of rushing through material, he takes the time to break things down clearly and ensures everything makes sense before moving on. Hes also incredibly patient and kind. My daughter never feels pressured or judged when she doesn`t understand something right awayhe is always willing to go over it again in a different way until she understands the topic. Overall, Id highly recommend him to anyone looking for a supportive and effective math tutor.

Weve been very pleased with Edward as maths tutor for both of our children aged 12 and 13. Since starting weekly lessons, weve seen a clear improvement in their understanding and academic results. He has a great teaching style thats both patient and engaging, helping them grasp quite challenging topics. Most importantly, Edward has really helped boost their confidence in maths, which has made a big difference at school.
