Information about Joseph

I am an enthusiastic, warm and punctual tutor with a passion for teaching.

I graduated with a BA in English (1st Class) from University of Warwick, and I am about to begin studying for a Masters in English Literature.

I teach with a focus on dialogue between myself and pupil, assessing the specific needs of each individual, and making sure that sessions are both informative but, crucially, fun and engaging. My approach focuses on building and developing skills, but also confidence - self-belief, enjoyment, interest and passion for the subject will only help in getting good grades.

I work by focusing on the specific needs of each pupil, as no two students are the same.

I work by focusing on close readings with in-depth analysis and discussions; writing practice and essay structure (which is vital at GCSE and A-Level); and reading, discussion and learning around the text (it`s history, the author life, work surrounding the text). A thorough and in-depth discussion of the text I have found invaluable in helping with my pupils` understanding of the subject, subsequent growth in confidence and ability, and ultimately better grades. Alongside this the crucial practice and analysis of essay style, structure and execution is something I have practiced for years, and the time that 1-on-1 tutoring can give to this is invaluable and is key to the achieving of the highest grades.

Organisation, structure and tools for revision. I employ a variety of different methods and styles to aid pupil revision practices that focus not only on pupils` time management but look at the best methods to revise, ensuring that even after the tutoring sessions have finished, pupils are left with beneficial working practices and structures at home, helping them grow and progress.

I look forward to hearing from you!
