Information about Will
Passionate about Maths - and keen to pass it on.
I firmly believe that everyone is capable of good mathematics - and try to create interest in the subject by finding relevance for the pupil and using a wide range of approaches and techniques for learning.
I have many years of experience in teaching Mathematics, including working at both Private and State schools, providing home tuition and homeschooling my own children.
I have Batchelors and Masters degrees in Mathematics from Oxford University and a teaching qualification (PGCE).
My "style" of teaching is to first understand the pupil`s level of knowledge and approach to problems, then devise a plan to build upon their existing knowledge to complete the syllabus and suggest other approaches/techniques where necessary.
I try to develop understanding of the mathematics involved rather than a formulaic approach to problems.
I really enjoy the beauty of mathematics and hope to be able to pass that on.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: After University I taught full time for several years at a private school in London.
I then moved in to computing for most of my career.
15 years ago I took a PGCE in Secondary School Mathematics education and worked in a local school.
For the last 10 years I have been tutoring mathematics at GCSE and A-level through several tutorial agencies.
I did home visits until Covid, but since then mostly tutor online using Zoom but do home tutorials if it is local.
DBS Check: Yes
