I`ve been fortunate enough to have been awarded a certificate of excellence from the UK teaching awards association. I have also been nominated for the Essex teaching awards: Teacher of the year 2021.

I`ve recently been promoted to Head Of Physics at a large successful school in Loughton. Whilst at the school, the A*-C A-level Physics percentage went from below 40% to 88% in under 2 years. Additionally, the GCSE Physics course had over 90% G7-G9.

I scaffold learning and ensure that all sessions make the content less abstract for my pupils by making links to real-life applications in addition to showing pupils WHY they are learning the topic and how it links to other subject areas. This is all done whilst ensuring that the pupil is given the freedom to make mistakes and learn from to boost their confidence whilst not making them too reliant on myself. Pupils are shown what the common mistakes are and how to avoid them.

Having tutored pupils (both in groups and 1-1) I have ensured that they secure high grades and have helped numerous pupils take the next step onto their A-levels or university degree. I also run CPD sessions for other science teachers who may not be as comfortable in teaching certain aspects of Physics.

-Familiar with the 9-1 GCSE curriculum (all exam boards) and new A-level physics specification AQA / Edexcel / OCR.
