Information about Nina
I am an enthusiastic, patient and friendly, fully-qualified primary school teacher, currently tutoring primary school children in English and for 11+ assessments.
I completed my undergraduate degree at University of St Andrews in Art History, gaining a First Class honours degree. After that, I studied for a Masters in Magazine Journalism at City University London, and worked as a full-time travel journalist in London, so literacy is a deeply embedded passion of mine.
I retrained as a teacher in 2017-18, completing my PGCE Primary Teaching with Art at University of Exeter. I have spent the last two years as a Year 6 English and Humanities teacher at Dunhurst, Bedales Prep School.
Availability: I am available weekday evenings.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have experiencing teaching children of a wide range of abilities, including special educational needs, EAL (English as an additional language) and preparing children for 11+ entrance examinations.
I teach primary/prep school aged children, mainly from 8 to 13 years old. I am a friendly, enthusiastic tutor, committed to building confidence within my tutees. I believe in an enjoyable, creative approach to English, especially to engage reluctant learners. I am quick to identify each child`s strengths and areas for development. I work at a steady pace to ensure each child becomes confident in an area before moving on.
I use a variety of creative techniques to engage pupils and deepen their English knowledge, especially focusing on comprehension techniques, creative writing, spelling and grammar.
