The most important thing any music tutor can pass on to a student is a love and genuine, instinctive understanding of music. It’s something that can’t be assessed through exams, and that won’t win prizes or guarantee that you sail through your auditions, but heartfelt love of music will enrich your life on so many levels and enable you to inspire other people so they too can feel the pleasure that comes from listening to a great concerto or – even better – playing one.

As a professional singer and songwriter, music is my passion and my vocation: I compose, I perform, and I teach. Classically trained at Berklee Music College, the USA’s premier conservatoire, I also have extensive expertise in all contemporary styles, including jazz, R&B and soul, and I gain enormous pleasure from sharing everything I have learned with my students. I offer high-quality lessons in playing the guitar and piano, singing and music theory for clients of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to accomplished musicians who are preparing to embark on their own musical careers. I get just as much satisfaction from helping a novice guitarist play their first chords as I do from watching someone I’ve taught take to the stage to perform their own songs with their own band.

All of my lessons are entirely bespoke and based upon the needs and goals of the individual student. Whether you are keen to track your progress by following one of the standard curriculums and taking the graded exams, want to be totally self-assured and note perfect in advance of an important audition or simply want to learn for your own fulfillment, I will create a programme of personalised classes designed to help you succeed.

I believe that learning to make music should be a joyful, exciting experience – I want our lessons to be the high point of your week and for you to look forward to the time you find each week to practice. I have a creative, lively approach that ensures our lessons are never dull or predictable; I take my work seriously, and consider that a key part of my work is making sure that you are always engaged, interested and enthused. It is important to me that you find your own voice and your own style, that you learn how to express yourself musically: our lessons are a chance for you to explore your own creativity as much as they are for me to share technical my knowledge skills.

Availability: My availability varies from week to week depending on my own schedule with gigs and rehearsals, but just shoot me a message and I`m sure we can find a time. I encourage a first lesson to be done as a 30 minute consultation where I can devise a road map of where to focus our attention, this can be done easily online.

Experience: I have taught lessons in Singing, Piano and Guitar on and off for the past 10 years. I am happy to teach all ages and abilities for piano and singing, however I can only teach beginners on guitar.
I graduated from Berklee College of Music 3 years ago with a first class degree.
