Information about Katherine
Im a qualified Art & Design teacher (PGCE + QTS) and practicing artist with an active studio practice and online portfolio (KatMarieArt). I teach children, teenagers, and adults online, supporting GCSE/A-Level coursework, portfolio preparation, and creative skill-building. My specialisms include mixed media, felt painting, expressive colour, and reflective Life Sketchbooking, a practice exploring identity, emotions, and personal themes through art. I welcome neurodivergent learners and students with anxiety or low confidence; my Art Therapy training informs a gentle, structured style that feels safe and manageable without being clinical or therapeutic. My sessions suit beginners to advanced learners, including those preparing for college or art school.
Availability: Day times, (Tuesdays and Fridays mostly)
every other weekends and certain evenings.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: I hold a PGCE in Art & Design with QTS and have taught KS2KS5 and adult learners in schools, colleges, and community settings. My experience includes teaching GCSE and A-Level Art & Design, supporting students with coursework, sketchbook development, and portfolio submissions for college and art school entry. I am a practicing artist with mixed-media and scenic art experience, including work for theatre and broadcast contexts, which helps students understand creative career pathways. I have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent learners (ADHD/dyslexia) and students with anxiety or low confidence, adapting lessons through visual demonstrations, clear scaffolding, and differentiated tasks.
