Rachel

My name is Rachel and I am a SENCo at Breachwood Green JMI and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. I am a well established and experienced teacher, and I enjoy using my skills to contribute to supporting and enhancing the education of all the children I work with. I graduated from Bishop Grossteteste College, in 1996, with a Bachelor`s Degree in Music with Qualified Teacher Status. In 2012-2013, I completed part one and two of my Masters in SEN Education and once my son has done his GCSE’s, I am determined to complete it.

I started as a class teacher in 1996 have been promoted over the years to Senior Leadership before making the decision in 2020 to focus on the SEN aspect of my teaching career. I am keen on health and fitness and I spend quite a lot of my free time running and walking. If I am not doing that, I love reading, watching endless box sets on Amazon Prime and Netflix and encouraging my teenage son into the idea that learning is fun.

Availability: I am available evenings from 6pm til 9pm- Monday to Wednesday. 9am to 7pm Thursday and Friday and 9am to noon on Saturday.

Experience: I have been teaching for 25 years and worked in a variety of schools in a variety of catchment areas. I have taught from Reception to year 6 and the last 4 years of my career have been in a mixed Year 5/6 class where the SATs results have improved significantly year on year. I became a SENCO 11 years ago and through my training for that role and experience of different year groups, I have developed my teaching to really cater for the needs of the individual.
I develop good working relationships with the children who I teach and they know that I will be firm but fair and I will always look for an alternative way to present something if they are struggling to understand a concept.
