Information about Eishar

Aloha, I`m Eishar (pronounced like `shisha`) and I`m known to be a unique character filled with intersectionalities and neurodivergencies, which provide an interesting approach to life :)

My tutoring style is fluid and adaptable; by understanding how the tutee works before diving straight in, this ensures `what I communicate across` will efficiently enter your brain as `knowledge = powerrrr` 🔥;;

1 hour blocks can be adapted into timed chunks, following a loose structure:
-questions and tutorial work recap = reinforcement of the work we’ve already done and to ensure confidence;
-highlights of what they’ve learnt in class and where they’d like to improve;
-example questions and workings, with annotated notes to help understand HOW the process operates;
-tutorial work (homework questions in an applied style)
-Any Other Business (AOB)

-monthly curriculum overview of progress to date (gantt chart style for long-term tutoring);
^this will vary for each individual and session

I love to solve problems; have experience with conveying technical information into non-technical jargon; highly self-aware of my learning and teaching routes (I use diagrams and hand actions a lot) and will ensure you feel comfortable and safe within the tutoring environment to learn effectively :)

If I need to take a question home to solve in my own time, I will be upfront about it so your child does not get uncertain information - I try to go above and beyond by clearly explaining solutions and how to use formulae etc…

Availability: I am available most days unless I have plans - communication, project planning and adaptability are key traits I value :)

I am off work on long-term sick whilst waiting to receive treatment through the NHS - therefore I can travel or work online.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have tutored a kid in GCSE Maths and GCSE Combined Science with an approach to revising, instead of teaching `what` they needed to know = transferable skills!

I homeschool-tutored a kid in pre-GCSE maths; and tutored a kid with early GCSE maths.

I have learnt university modules during online teaching in covid - this has allowed me to experience the other side and know what are the ups and downs when receiving educational help.
I have taught fellow colleagues and friends during revision periods online with group work and found whiteboard work and cameras to be optimal!

I have achieved a BEng Mechanical Engineering (Hons) degree and I was sponsored through my company to complete an apprenticeship for an MSc in Offshore Wind Energy Engineering over 3 years. I am also working towards my chartership with the IMechE.
At work, I led my fellow graduates with initiatives to connect with upcoming STEM students - I am inspired to share my knowledge and enthusiasm to ensure people can hone into their qualities and be the best version of themselves ✨;;

At school, I volunteered at a lot of open days and was able to answer questions honestly / solve problems if I didn’t know the answer; I’ve tutored year 7/8 kids when i was in year 12 by doing maths tutoring at school; I looked after new kids starting school and made them feel welcomed; I worked with my uni to enrol students in IT and Engineering; I have been involved in STEM fairs for primary and secondary school kids with my work to advertise Renewable Energy and Offshore Wind; I have gone into schools through work / had the opportunity to share my first hand experience as a graduate within the Engineering world to younger students who are interested to pursue a STEM career; and I have had strangers listen to me help my friends on public transport with CV’s and they’ve asked if I can help them! :)

I have a NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification;
I have completed my IPMA-D in Project management;
I have GWOs for practical wind turbine safety;
I have achieved a Carbon Literacy Certificate;
and more if you’re interested :)
