I have a passion for teaching and am a creative and experienced, native English speaking tutor and Life Coach specialising in confidence coaching. I have worked in Education for some years as a tutor and as a student mentor in schools, colleges and universities. I teach students of all nationalities and ages either for general conversational English or for exams. I also offer one to one tuition for GCSE English and am familiar with the current AQA exam syllabus. I have an Honours Degree in English and Psychology (2:1) and am a qualified Adult Education tutor. My career background began as a psychologist in the NHS where I developed effective communication skills, stress management and relaxation techniques. A key strength for my English tuition or coaching is an ability to form good working relationships with students and clients built on mutual trust and rapport. I believe in giving people the confidence to do their best. I provide individual or small group sessions and also telephone or internet sessions for distance learners.

Availability: I have availability on Friday and Saturday mornings and afternoons with some availability during the week.

Experience: I have been teaching English to classes and individual students and adults of all nationalities, ages and levels since 2005. I have had a 98% pass rate for learners taking entry level ESOL exams at college and have helped numerous students to achieve GCSE passses. I teach at British Council accredited English Language summer schools based at universities and colleges across the UK. On the courses students take assessment tests on arrival to place them into one of four levels from elementary to upper intermediate. Teachers conduct end of course tests, write reports and issue certificates. In class the focus is on improving oral fluency and confidence in speaking as well as written work. Students have fun learning through doing a variety of projects, role play activities and presentations. I offer private English tuition to International students and professionals living and working or studying in the UK and can offer proofreading and exam preparation (IELTS, Cambridge exams or ESOL) as well as conversational English. For GCSE preparation we look at past papers and how to approach questions as well as practical exam techniques to focus the mind and overcome exam nerves.
